Rare species only known from the Pannonian steppe in Hungary. Very small population known to date but it may have been underrecorded due to its small size and similarities with other species in the same habitat.

To date only found in the Kiskuság National Park in Central Hungary.
Known from 4 localities, all situated in a national park. Must be considered a rare species within the park which has been intensely investigated during recent years.

Saprotrophic in calcareous, sandy steppe areas, in dry and exposed habitats on bare sand, on the sheltered and sun-exposed, extremely warm sandy spots on the south-facing sides of Juniperus communis.
