Justification

La especie Didymium peruvianum fue descrita en el 2016 a partir de material recolectado en el 2012 en zonas áridas costeras y andinas de Perú. Se muestrearon 96 localidades en esta región hiperarida costera, recolectando 723 especímenes. La especie consta de cuatro registros de ocurrencia en el mes de septiembre del 2012 en dos localidades diferentes. Se obtuvo a partir de hojarasca en cámara húmeda. Se ha trabajado también en Chile en el desierto de Atacama en áreas hiperáridas y no se ha encontrado la especie.
