Assessment Notes

Justification

This species is only known from a single locality, in Brazil Ceará, Barbalha, in the Floresta Nacional Araripe Apodi, Geossítio Riacho do Meio, 9 km away from the highway CE-60. This species could be under threat, as it does not appear to exist within the protected areas of the Floresta Nacional Araripe Apodi, however further research is needed in order to confirm this. This species has been found growing both gregariously and scattered, emerging from woodland soil, and among decayed woody humus deposits beneath the trunks of living Fabaceae trees. Until further research regarding this species’ specific habitat preferences, current wild population distribution, and potential threats is carried out, this species is listed as DD.

Chanterelle species

Geographic range

The holotype of this species was located in Brazil, Ceará, Barbalha, Floresta Nacional Araripe Apodi, Geossítio Riacho do Meio, 9 km away from the highway CE-60, at coordinates 7°21’50”S, 39°19’45” W, on the 25th June 2011. A further specimen was found at the same locality on 26th June 2012. This species known locality is only known from these collections.

Population and Trends

Further research is needed to assess the threats which may be affecting this species, as this species does not appear to exist within the protected areas of the Floresta Nacional Araripe Apodi. Therefore, its current population trends remain uncertain.
