Hoehnelogaster microsporus is a gasteroid fungus described in 1926, from Java, Indonesia. It has not been recorded since and has a potentially unresolved taxonomic status. It is assessed as Data Deficient (DD).
Hoehnelogaster microsporus, originally microspora, is the only species in the monotypic genus Hoehnelogaster. However, although this taxon is currently listed as accepted in Index Fungorum, its validity has been called into question in the past and suggested as a synonym of Corditubera microspora. (Zeller, 1948 and Smith and Schmull, 2011)
The species has only been reported from Java, Indonesia.
No additional records of this species have been made since its description and it is not possible to estimate its population size or trends.
Population Trend: Uncertain
Surveys are needed to determine the species distribution, population size and trends, and ecology. Additionally, taxonomic studies are need as there its generic placement has been questioned.
