This species has been located in Guyana, Region 8, Potaro-Siparuni, Pakaraima Mountains, Upper Potaro River Basin, 15 km east of Mt Ayanganna and 1 km west of base camp on trail toDicymbe plot 3, on the 20th May 2010. A further collection has been made nearby, 3 km southwest of base camp in Dicymbe plot 3, on 2nd Jun 2001. This species has also been located within Singapore Botanic Gardens on the 11th November 1934, however little is known regarding this species’ habitat preferences at this locality. Several specimens of this species are preserved by the NMNH extant species record and the New York Botanical Garden Herbarium. 2 further material samples used for International Barcode of Life Project. Although this species’ habitat preferences in Singapore are unknown at this time, its habitat preferences within its collections in Guyana are known as follows. This species has been found growing in either a scattered formation or in small troops on humus deposits or directly on live bark on trunks of Dicymbe corymbosa. Due to a deficiency in information regarding this species’ habitat preferences outside of Guyana, its wild population details and distribution, and its potential threats, it is difficult to assess the current population trends of this species. Until further research is carried out to address these issues, this species is listed as DD.

The status of this species’ wild populations cannot be accurately determined at this time, due to a deficiency in information regarding this species’ potential threats, habitat preferences, and present day wild distribution.

Although this species’ habitat preferences in Singapore are unknown at this time, its habitat preferences within its collections in Guyana are known as follows. This species has been found growing in either a scattered formation or in small troops on humus deposits or directly on live bark on trunks of Dicymbe corymbosa.

It is unknown whether this species is significantly threatened in its native range, however from its locality in Guyana, it is possible that this species’ habitat could be threatened by logging, although further research is needed in order to confirm this claim.

This species’ habitat could be threatened by logging, and so protection thereof is suggested for its conservation.

Further research regarding this species’ present wild distribution and population details, its habitat preferences outside of Guyana, and its potential threats is needed in order to build an accurate assessment of this species.
