Preliminary assessment unable to access full type description.
Since the relatively recent description of Cantharellus lourizanianus, there don’t appear to be available subsequent records of occurrence. With a lack of such data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. In addition, a synonymy issue should be examined.
It is therefore now assessed as Data Deficient.
Cantharellus lourizanianus was described by J.B. Blanco-Dios in 2011.
More recent work has situated C. lourizanianus as a synonym of C. romagnesianus (Olariaga et al 2017).
Preliminary assessment conducted based on C. lourizanianus species information. Clarification of taxonomic status required to review this preliminary assessment.
Chanterelle species to be assessed as part of the chanterelle comprehensive project - drop as is a synonym.
Range extent unknown, but type described from Pontevedra, Lourizán in Spain.
No records of occurrence are available on GBIF.Limited information about the habitat means it is difficult to infer the potential range, but this may be possible under different assumptions if C. lourizanianus is assessed under its more recent taxonomic classification as a synonym of C. romagnesianus.
Only known from type.
Population Trend: Uncertain
Type described from forest of Pinus pinaster and Quercus robur, but extent of habitat preferences uncertain.
No known threats.
Confirmation of taxonomic status (synonymy) and an evaluation of its distribution, population, habitat and ecology is required to better assess this species, and move it out of DD.
