Taxonomic notes

Described from India. It belongs to subgenus Bovista according to Kreisel (1967). Sequence data from two Himalayan (det. Kreisel) available (KX998906, KX998907).

Geographic range

Himalayan species; record from Portugal 1846 leg. Welwitsch was revised by Calonge (1998) and renamed B. aff fulva. A Spainsh record from the Pyrenées has not been verified. No recent records (Spain in 1992; Nepal 1962; China 1916, holotype India 1867)

This species should be highlighted and searched for in alpine areas of the world. The locality in Spain should be revisited to review its status. Sequence data should be generated from the 1992 Spanish sample or from new material and compared with the Indian sequnces to investigate conspecificity.
