A unique species within Hygrocybe being without lamellae.
A unique species from a threatened habitat on the eastern slopes of Ecuador. Known from a few mycelia within an area of about 300 x 300 m.
Could be considered on the D-criteria or C-criteria. A conspicuous fungus in a habitat that is declining.
The species has only been found in a very limited area on the eastern slopes east of Quito, Ecuador. The area is under heavy population pressure and also subject to natural disasters such as earthquakes
