Assessment Notes
Justification
Since the description of
Cantherellus cuneiformis there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. With a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, and it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
It is not thought to be a
Cantharellus sensu stricto. The protologue (see Fries 1821) describes a fungus almost without a stipe and growing on dead wood (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range
The range of this species is unknown, with no location noted in the type description (Fries 1821).
Population and Trends
It is only known from the type description.
Population Trend: Unknown
Habitat and Ecology
The species was found on a 'rotten tree' in April and May from the type description (Fries 1821).
Threats
No threats can be identified with the limited information available.
Conservation Actions
Confirmation is required of taxonomic status, population and distribution data and ecology to better assess the species.
