Probably only known from its type locality in Portugal (collected in 1991 and not re-discovered). Habitat potentially destroyed by exploitation (tourism, buildings, roads). The species might have been overlooked elsewhere along the Portuguese coastline and rediscovery missions are needed.
Suggested assessment: DD
Portugal (type sequence GenBank KX576542). Erroneously recorded from North Macedonia by Rusevska et al. 2018 (these records refer to T. calongei). An ambiguous record is that from Mexico (Calonge et al. 2007), deviating morphologically from the type; it has not been confirmed with molecular data.
Only known from the type locality in Portugal, where it was found in 1991. Not observed later but potentially overlooked (and not searched for).
Population Trend: Uncertain
Saprotrophic among mosses on sand dunes with scattered Pinus.
Habitat decline/destruction due to exploitation (tourism, hotel buildings, roads).
Dedicated actions to rediscover it on its type locality.
Search activities in sand dune areas along the Portuguese coastline.
All potential records must be verified with DNA-sequence data.
Sequence data from Mexican record needed.
