Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?
The species grows in the spray zone along streams and near waterfalls in the boreal zone scattered throughout the Northern Hemisphere. It is apparently most common in Norway, where it is red listed (VU; A2, A3, C1) mainly due to hydroelectric power development.
