Assessment Notes
Justification
This species appears to be almost entirely lacking in geographic information, save for a report from Malaysia (Corner 1966). Information regarding the habitat preferences of this species is similarly deficient. Although this species could be threatened by deforestation for palm oil harvesting, research is required to confirm this, as well as whether this species persists within Malaysia now. Therefore, this species is listed as Data Deficient until further information arises regarding its distribution, habitat preferences, and potential threats.
Taxonomic notes
It appears that it could be a
Craterellus near
C. tubaeformis due to its colours and the hollow stipe (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range
This species was initially found within Malaysia (Corner 1966). There appear to be no other records of this species inside or outside of protection, and none with geographical coordinates.
Population and Trends
The current population trend of this species cannot presently be determined, due to a distinct lack of location and population data.
Population Trend: Unknown
Habitat and Ecology
Information on this species' habitat and ecology is unknown.
Threats
This species may be threatened by deforestation for agricultural activities, however because its exact locality and habitat is unknown, further research is required to confirm this.
Conservation Actions
Because information on the population status and locality of this species is severely limited, no conservation action can be recommended at this time. Much research is required into its population status, its locality, habitat and ecology, and the possible threats affecting it in order to accurately categorise this species.
