Taxonomic notes

Species described from Germany by Kreisel (1962) as Lycoperdon pusilliforme. It belongs to the unresolved species complex around Bovista aestivalis. Sequence from holotype: KX998899. Considered synonymous with B. asetivalis by Jeppson (2001).

Germany (type locality); Swedish records in GBIF belong to B. aestivalis. All records are ambigous due to a convoluted taxonomy.
