Rigidoporus vinctus is characterized by pink to black basidiomata, tiny pores (6–12 per mm) and strongly encrusted cystidia. It is related to R. undatus (Pers.) Donk, differing by the colour of the basidiomata (isabelline to beige), larger pores (7–9 per mm) and smooth or only apically encrusted cystidia (Gomes-Silva et al. 2014)
Species distributed worldwide, present in 46 countries.
The species has about 549 occurrences, about 1/3 in Brazil.
Population Trend: Uncertain
This species occurs in four Brazilian biomes: Amazon, Cerrado, Atlantic Forest and Caatinga.
It presents no evident threat, being very common at least in Brazil. However, it is found in the Atlantic Forest, a hotspot, in the Amazonia (currently being deforested at the highest rates in the last decades) and Cerrado (also a hotspot). Also, Caatinga is threatened with desertification.
There are records in unprotected areas.
Other countries should be better surveyed for a better understanding of distribution of the species.
