Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?

An exceedingly rare species, characterized by its abundant white rhoizomorphs and densely imbricate, pleurotoid habit.  Described from Brazil, Bolivia and Argentinia in 1973—known only from the holotypes, two collection from the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, and a recent Bolivian collection.
