Disciseda ochrochalcea was described by Kreisel (1976) from NW Nepal. It is closely related to D. bovista but can be distinguished on its slightly larger spores. Further research is needed including a barcoding sequence from the holotype.
Species recorded in alpine dry meadows (4700-4800 m.a.s.l.) in NW Nepal and seems to be endemic. Further studies must provide molecular data to better characterize the species. EOO and AOO indicate CR but taken into accoundt the current lack of knowledge it could be assessed as DD until more data has been retrieved.
Currently known from two localites in NW Nepal (Chharka and Marang).
Population size and status is currently unknown. According to Kreisel (1976) it is abundant in the two localities known to date.
Population Trend: Uncertain
In the two known localities situated in the climatically dry NW Nepal at altitudes 4700-4800 m.a.s.l., it has been observed in dry alpine meadows/grasslands.
Small and isolated population in NW Nepal, where it seems to be endemic. Its status is connected to the status of alpine dry grasslands in the Himalayas.
Type locality should be revisited and a dedicated search in similar habitats is encouraged.
A barcoding sequence from the type material is essential to ascertain its taxonomic status. Holotype material in KR.
