Described by Demoulin (1972) to cover the European records previously attributed to the American species A. album.
Distribution more or less confined to the Mediterranean regions in southern Europe. Not known from other continents.
Less than 25 records world wide originating from 7 localities (GBIF); no records since 2002 (Central Spain). Number of reproducing individuals is low (estimated to less than 100) but the species may have been overlooked in suitable habitats

Open sandy soil, along paths, under Cistus in Quercus suber plantation (Calonge 1998, Calonge & Demoulin 1975, Moyersoen & Demoulin 1996).
A small and fragmented population
The known localities should be revisited and a regularly monitored. Suitable Mediterranean , open sandy areas and thin woodlands should be subject of dedicated search abd re-discovery missions.
Arachnion lloydianum should be characterized with DNA-sequence data. A global taxonomic review of the genus based on morphological and molecular data is urgent.
