Assessment Notes

Taxonomic notes

Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?

This species is increasingly limited to areas free of anthropization. In Italy, I found only two stations in areas far from sources of pollution or settlements.

Geographic range

Piedmont, Cuneo province, 1.500-1.800 mt.

Population and Trends

Population Trend:

Habitat and Ecology

In mountainous alpine environments, sheltered from the wind and with an excellent humidity level, in groups of numerous specimens, with the presence of Rhododendrons.

Temperate Grassland

Threats

A possible continuous approach of human settlements to the only residual productive mountain sites (ski, roads)

Conservation Actions

I tried to sensitize the construction activities about the presence of a rare species on site, for now obtaining favorable results. The ski slopes and the roads have been moved one kilometer from the area where the species bears fruit.
