There is very limited information available for Cantharellus preslii, and it is not currently possible to accurately assess its extinction risk. Therefore, C. preslii is assessed as Data Deficient.
This species is unlikely to be a Cantharellus, and is more likely to be a clitocyboid or omphalinoid agaric (I. Olariaga Ibarguren in litt. 2022).

This species was collected from near to Tehov, in what is now Czechia (Velenovský 1920).

Further information is required before an accurate assessment of the threats this species may face can be made.
Further research is required to get a clearer indication of the taxonomic placement of this species, as well as to get a clearer idea of its full distribution. This would then also help to get an estimate of the overall population size and trend, as well as identifying any key threats.
