Preliminary assessment unable to access full type description.
Since the description of Cantherellus fechtneri there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. There is a lack of information on the habitat and ecology of the species, and it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.
Cantharellus fechtneri was described by Josef Velenovský in 1922 in České Houby and was listed by Petrak in 1937.
In Petrak’s listing C. fechtneri is described as being related to C. radiato, which may refer to Cantharellus radiatus, another species described by Velenovský for which little information is available.
GBIF lists taxonomy as doubtful.
Chanterelle species to be assessed as part of the chanterelle comprehensive project.
Range unknown, described from ‘Bohemia’ in the present-day Czech Republic from the type specimen.
No occurrence data available on GBIF.
Only known from type.
Population Trend: Uncertain
Described as being found in moist woodland in early listing (Petrak,1937).
The extent of habitat and forest type is unknown.
No known threats.
Confirmation of taxonomic status, population and distribution data and ecology required to better assess species.
