Assessment Notes
Justification
Since the description of
Cantherellus acicularis there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. There is a lack of information on the habitat and ecology of the species, and it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
From the original description, it does not look like a
Cantharellus (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range
The exact range of this species is unknown, having been described from needles in 'Czechoslovakia' (Velenovský 1939).
Population and Trends
It is only known from the type specimen.
Population Trend: unknown
Habitat and Ecology
The type specimen was described as being on needles, but the extent of habitat and forest type are unknown.
Threats
No major threats have been identified due to a lack of information about the habitat extent and ecology of this species.
Conservation Actions
Confirmation is required of taxonomic status and records of presence and distribution to better assess this species.
