Species easy to identify under the microscope but often misidentified for T. punctatum, T. calongei and T. winterhoffii, presenting almost identical macro-features and occurring in similar habitats. Identifications should always be verified under the microscope or with DNA barcode to avoid misidentifications.

Common species in Europe and N. America. Also recorded in S. America, Asia and Australia. Occurs in a variety of dry grassland, steppes, sand dunes, semideserts. Large and stable population.

World-wide distrubution, abundant species in temperate regions of Europe and N. America. Distribution records are somewhat ambiguous due to misidentifications with T. punctatum, T. calongei and T. winterhoffii.
