Justification
This species appears to have only been recorded from North Carolina, USA. There is very little data available regarding the ecology of the species and it is not possible to accurately assess the population size and trends, as well as the potential threats the species may face. With this high level of uncertainty,
Cantharellus helotioides is assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
The original description of this species by de Schweinitz (1834) spelled the name as
Cantharellus helosioides.

Conservation Actions
Research is needed to find further specimens of this species in order to get a clearer idea of its range, ecology and taxonomic position.
