Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?
Pluteus aurantiorugosus is a threatened species. It is a showy species of very decayed hardwood, especially poplar in alluvial forests. Threatend mainly by habitat destruction.
Geographic range
Known from thorughout western Europe including western Russia with [check the reports from Iran and Afganistan]. There are 14 iNaturalist records with ITS data from across the US that are close matches specimens with sequences reported from Japan and China. There is also a specimen reported from Quebec.
