Cosmopolitan distribution, tropical-subtropical-temperate
Large population (9500 records on GBIF) and wide distribution in a wide range of habitats. Trend is supposedly stable.
Population Trend: Stable
A thermophilous ectomycorrhizal species in tropical-subtropical and temperate deciduous woodland, also in urban parks and gardens. Forms ectomycorrhiza with Quercus spp in temperate regions.
Modern forestry methods including clear-felling of large areas can be locally detrimental. However, the large population, the wide distribution in a wide range of habitats indicate that this species has a stable world population.
