Assessment Notes

The content on this page is fetched from The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species: https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/226992773/227537644

Justification

There is limited information available from the type description, and only one specimen of Cantharellus dutrochetii. With a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore now assessed as Data Deficient.

Taxonomic notes

It does not look like a true Cantharellus (I. Olariaga Ibarguren in litt. 2022).

Geographic range

The range of this species is unknown. It is unclear where the type was described from, although it may be France, as it was observed from a cellar owned by M. Dutrochet, a member of the l'Institut de France (Montagne 1836).

Population and Trends

It is only known from the type description.

Population Trend: unknown

Habitat and Ecology

The type is described from a cellar (Montagne 1836) and Cantharellus dutrochetii is later included in a description of fungi which do not need light for their normal development (Elfving 1890). There is no other information available.

Threats

There are no known threats, because of the lack of information about the species.

Conservation Actions

Confirmation is required of taxonomic status, population and distribution data and ecology to better assess this species.
