Assessment Notes
The content on this page is fetched from The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species:
Justification
There is limited information available from the type description of
Cantharellus fascicularis, and with a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore now assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
It does not appear to be a
Cantharellus but could potentially be a synonym of
Craterellus melanoxeros (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range
The precise range of this species unknown, but the type was described from oak in Bavaria (Sturm 1853).
Population and Trends
It is only known from type.
Population Trend: unknown
Habitat and Ecology
The type was described from a specimen found in September at the root of
Quercus in Bavaria. Early listing notes that
Cantharellus fascicularis is unlike any other mushroom but no further information is available (Saccardo 1887).
Threats
Because of the lack of available information, it is not possible to accurately assess any potential threats.
Conservation Actions
Confirmation is required of taxonomic status, population and distribution data and ecology to better assess the species.
