Main distribution area in N. America and Europe; scattered and in som cases amiguous records from Asia, Australia, New Zealand. It has been detected in eDNA-samples in several countries in S. America as well as in Iran. Records from subtropical-tropical regions are ambiguous.
Abundant species in nemoral deciduous woodland and gardens, with Quercus, Population stable.
