Assessment Notes
Justification
Since the description of
Cantherellus hygrophanus there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. There is limited information available and with a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
It is uncertain if it belongs to
Cantharellus due to the hollow stipe (see Saccardo 1887). It might be an albino form of an agaric, or even a
Craterellus, but checks would need to be made on a type specimen (it there is any) to be able to say more (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range
The exact range of this species is unknown, having been described from grassy areas in Lapland (see Saccardo 1887).
Population and Trends
It is only known from the type description.
Population Trend: unknown
Habitat and Ecology
Saccardo (1887) records the type specimen was described from grassy areas.
Threats
No major threats can be identified due to lack of information about the full range of this species.
Conservation Actions
Confirmation is required of taxonomic status, population and distribution data and ecology to better assess the species.
