Assessment Notes
Justification
There is a high degree of uncertainty around this species, including its specific distribution and its taxonomic position. With no clear data available on this species it is assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
It is uncertain if this is a
Cantharellus sensu stricto as Gillet had a broad concept of the genus (broader than today). In any case, if it is a
Cantharellus, it would likely be an albino form of a common species (
C. cibarius or
C. pallens) and the name has not been used either (I. Olariaga Ibarguren pers. comm. 2022).
Geographic range
The type collection of this species was made in France, but no specific locality is noted in Saccardo (1887).
Population and Trends
Further information is required before an assessment of its population status is made.
Population Trend: Unknown
Habitat and Ecology
It has been noted from woodland, where it grows amongst grasses (Saccardo 1887).
Threats
Further information is required before an investigation into its threats can be made.
Conservation Actions
There is a paucity of information available regarding this species, and its taxonomic position needs clarification. If it is shown to be a good species then further work would be required to gain a greater insight into its distribution, population size and trend.
Use and Trade
There is no use/trade information.
