The glabrous abhymenial surface and variable brown color of the basidiomata are similar to those of Lenzites elegans (Spreng.) Pat., but this species is macroscopically different due to its thicker basidiomata and the lamellate to sinuous hymenial surface (Gomes-Silva et al. 2010, Welti et al. 2012).

In Brazil, the species is found in Amazonia, Atlantic Forest, Caatinga and Cerrado.
The species is well distributed in Brazil. However, the Amazon has currently the highest rates of deforestation in the last decades and the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado are already hotspot. Caatinga is threatened by desertification.
Some records in Brazil are in unprotected areas.
Other areas should be studied in order to assess the distribution of this species.
