Assessment Notes
Justification
Since the description of
Cantharellus morchellocephalus there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. There is limited information available from the type description and with a lack of information on the habitat and ecology of the species, it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
It is most likely not a chanterelle (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range

It is only known from the type.
Population Trend: Unknown
Habitat and Ecology
The type was described from a shaded garden (see Montagne 1837).
Threats
It is not possible to identify any threats to this species because of the lack of information available.
Conservation Actions
Confirmation is required of taxonomic status, population and distribution data and ecology to better assess this species.
