Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?

Frequent earthball in temperate regions world-wide. It forms ectomycorhhiza with both deciduous and coniferous trees in woodland but also in gardens, urban parks, roadsides, along pavements and in pine plantations. Large and stable population. LC


Geographic range

Cosmopolitan distribution, temperate regions. Northernmost record in Iceland (introduced) in church yard. Largely lacking in Africa, Middle east and Central Asia.

Large population and wide distribution in a wide range of habitats.

Habitat and Ecology

Ectomycorrhizal with both deciduous and coniferous trees. In woodland as well as in urban parks, gardens, along roadsides, pavements and pathways in urban areas. It has also been reported from Pine plantations.
