Assessment Notes

Justification

Since the description of Cantharellus kunthii there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. There is a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, and it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.

Taxonomic notes

Cantharellus kunthii was described by F. Chevallier in 1826.

It was listed under Craterellus pusillus by P.A Saccardo in 1888, however this is not listed as a synonym of C. kunthii by Index Fungorum. Only C. kunthii species information is used in this preliminary assessment.

Note that GBIF lists C. kunthii as a synonym of Pseudocraterellus undulatus, which may have arisen as a result of the listing of C. kunthii as C. pusillus, as C. pusillus is an accepted synonym of P. undulatus.
