Justification
Since the description of
Cantharellus kunthii there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. There is a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, and it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
This species is likely not a
Cantharellus, and it appears to be a
Clitocybe sensu lato (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range
The type of this species described from the Bois de Boulogne in Paris, France (Chevallier 1826).

It is only known from the type description.

The type specimen was described from the ground, in sandy woods. It is described as uncommon (see Chevallier 1826).
