Assessment Notes
Justification
Craterellus palmatus is a fungus species only known from western Ohio, USA, with the type collected at Oxford. This appears to be the only specimen, and there is a paucity of information regarding this species, including about the correct genus for it to be placed in. Given the high level of uncertainty and lack of information,
C. palmatus is assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
Grootmyers (2021) suggest that this species should not fall in
Craterellus. However, no formal redescription of the species has been conducted so it is retained here for now.
Geographic range
This species is known from Ohio, USA, with the only known record from Oxford (see Burt 1914).
Population and Trends
There is no information available regarding population size and trends.
Population Trend: Unknown
Habitat and Ecology
This species was collected from rotten wood, inside frondose forest (see Burt 1914).
Threats
Further information on the species is required before an accurate assessment of its threats can be made.
Conservation Actions
Further research is required to get a clearer idea of the species’ distribution and ecology, as well as investigating the correct taxonomic placement for the species.
