Assessment Notes

The content on this page is fetched from The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species: https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/226999253/227537321

Justification

There is limited information available from the type description of the species, and no subsequent occurrence records of Cantharellus mamillatus. With a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.

Taxonomic notes

Its taxonomy is uncertain, and it may not be cantharelloid (I. Olariaga Ibarguren in litt. 2022).

Geographic range

The full range of this species is unknown, but it was described from Krokhaug in Norway (Blytt 1905).

Population and Trends

It is only known from the type.

Population Trend: unknown

Habitat and Ecology

The type was described from 'the earth'. The type description does say Cantharellus mamillatus is similar to an Omphalia in habitat, but not further information is available (see Blytt 1905).

Threats

Further information is required before an accurate assignment of threats can be made.

Conservation Actions

Confirmation of taxonomic status and an evaluation of its distribution, population, habitat and ecology is required to better assess this species.
