Arcyria cinerea is recognized by its cylindrical sporocarps, almost white, gray or beige, capillitium firmly connected to the cup, strongly warted or spinulose at the base and covered with spines and half rings at the periphery.
Although to be a well distributed species, in Brazil this species need attention because many records are from endangered biomes. Thus, we suggest this species to be categorized in Least Concern.
Population Trend:
In Brazil this species can be found on dead leaves, aerial leaf litter, living bark tree and decomposing trunk in Amazon and Atlantic forest, riparian forest and savanna.
The specie is well distributed in Brazil, mostly in northeast region, it is present in Biomes which have been losing its biological diversity due to deforestation, agricultural activities and urbanization.
Some of the records in Brazil are in unprotected areas.
More researches in Brazil are necessary, concernig field collection and moist chamber techniques using various types of substrate.
