Arcyria cinerea is recognized by its cylindrical sporocarps, almost white, gray or beige, capillitium firmly connected to the cup, strongly warted or spinulose at the base and covered with spines and half rings at the periphery.

Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?

Although to be a well distributed species, in Brazil this species need attention because many records are from endangered biomes. Thus, we suggest this species to be categorized in Least Concern.

In Brazil this species can be found on dead leaves, aerial leaf litter, living bark tree and decomposing trunk in Amazon and Atlantic forest, riparian forest and savanna.
