Assessment Notes
Justification
This species is known only from its type collection in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, described over 150 years ago. No further records of this species appear to exist. Similarly, information regarding this species' habitat preferences appears to be lacking. If any wild subpopulations exist at this species' known locality, they may be threatened by deforestation and logging, however due to the great deficiency in recent geographic information concerning this species, no threats can reasonably assigned at this time. Until further research provides relevant information to this assessment, this species is listed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
The exact taxonomy is uncertain, but it does not look like a
Cantharellus (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range
The type of this species was located within the Brazilian Amazon rainforest (Berkeley 1856). No further records of this species appear to be known.
Population and Trends
Due to a deficiency in information regarding this species' distribution, habitat preferences, and threats, the current status of this species' population is unknown.
Population Trend: unknown
Habitat and Ecology
This species was located in the Amazon rainforest, growing on soil (Berkeley 1856). No further information regarding the habitat preferences of this species appears to be known.
Threats
If any wild subpopulations of this species exist within its known locality, they are possibly threatened by logging and deforestation, however because the only record of this species is accompanied by inaccurate geographical information, it is unreasonable to assign any threats to this species at this time.
Conservation Actions
No conservation action can be recommended for this species at this time, due to a deficiency in information regarding its distribution, habitat preferences, and possible threats. Further research into this species’ wild distribution, its habitat preferences, and whether or not it is significantly threatened within its habitat is required in order to assign an accurate classification to this species.
