Assessment Notes

Justification

This species was initially described as growing in a fern gully near Melbourne, Australia, over 120 years ago, however information regarding any further collections of this species is deficient. Information regarding this species’ habitat preferences and potential threats appears to be similarly deficient. Because of this, it is not possible to assess the current population trends of this species. Therefore, this species is listed as DD until further information arises from additional research.

Taxonomic notes

Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?

Chanterelle species, but dropped as nomen dubium.

Geographic range

This species was initially described as growing on the ground in a fern gully near Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Cooke and Masse, Grevillia). No information appears to be available regarding any further wild populations or cultivated specimens.

Population and Trends

Information into the current population status and trends of this species is uncertain, due to a deficiency in habitat and locality information. Without much further research, these trends are likely to remain uncertain.

Population Trend: Uncertain

Habitat and Ecology

This species was known to occur within a fern gully near Melbourne, Australia, growing on the ground.

Subtropical/Tropical Moist Lowland Forest

Threats

The current whereabouts of this species in the wild are unknown, and with the available geographic information, it is not possible to assign threats to this species, without further research.

Conservation Actions

The current population status of this species is currently unknown, and so without further research, no conservation action can be recommended at this time.

Research needed

Further research is required into the distribution, population trends, and habitat of this species, as well as the potential threats affecting it, in order to accurately assign a classification to this species.
