Assessment Notes

The content on this page is fetched from The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species: https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/269707232/269707234

Justification

With a paucity of data available for this species and taxonomic and provenance issues, Cantharellus tenellus is assessed as Data Deficient.

Taxonomic notes

This is an old name without a consistent modern interpretation, which does not look like a Cantharellus (I. Olariaga Ibarguren pers. comm. 2022).

Geographic range

No specific collection details are noted in the type description (see Lamarck and De Candolle 1805), but based on this publication it is assumed that the species was collected from France.

Population and Trends

Further research is required before an estimate of the population size and trend can be made.

Population Trend: Unknown

Habitat and Ecology

It is noted as having been collected "ad trabes putridas" (Fries 1821), or "sur les vieilles planches pourries" (Lamarck and De Candolle 1805). Thus it appears to grow on rotten building timber.

Threats

Without further information it is not possible to identify the threats that this species faces.

Conservation Actions

Further research is required into the taxonomic position of this species, as it is unlikely to be a Cantharellus (I. Olariage Ibarguren in litt. 2022). If further work does accept it is a good species then ensuring a greater knowledge of its range, population and trend will be important.

Use and Trade

There is no use/trade information.
