The content on this page is fetched from The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species: https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/109418858/109418873

Justification

The global distribution of this species is limited to Sardinia (Italy) with an area of occupancy (AOO) of 4 km², although the actual area occupied by this species is  only 0.432 km². This species is therefore assessed here as Vulnerable under criterion D2 given that erosion of the local landscape, or a single fire event could result in the extinction of this species.

Geographic range

This species occurs only with small subpopulations on the little island Isola dei cavoli (Sardinia, Italy).

Population and Trends

The species is restricted to steep north facing slopes. Population size was not assessed.

Population Trend: unknown

Habitat and Ecology

Parasitic on Rinodina alba Arnold, the species grows on sun-exposed rocks.

Threats

This species is threatened by accidental extinction from tourism or fire, and development of tourism occurred in the vicinity of the population. The intensification of erosion is one of the most important observable impacts on the coastal areas of Sardinia.

Conservation Actions

Location is within the borders of a protected area. No conservation plan is available.
There is an urgent need for a detailed assessment of population size, the extent of occurrence and trend.
