Cystidiodontia laminifera is characterised by basidiomata resupinate, odontoid hymenophore metuloids up to 40 µm and differs from similar species, due to, smaller basidiospores (4 -5 × 2-2.5 µm).

Tropical and Subtropical species. In Brazil, the species is found only in the Atlantic Forest.
In Brazil, this species is not well distributed, registered only in Atlantic Rain Forest, a hotspot.
