Justification

Laccaria laccata sensu lato occurs commonly throughout the North Temperate Zone, Central America to Colombia, montane temperate Chile and Argentina, and northern parts of tropical Asia. It forms ectomycorrhizal associations with species in Fagaceae and Pinaceae. It is not a species of conservation concern at this time and is assessed as Least Concern.

Taxonomic notes

This is species complex is in need of a rigorous taxonomic revision. Efforts to disentangle the complex with multigene analyses have not succeeded. A genome based analysis is likely required to resolve relationships.

Geographic range

Laccaria laccata sensu lato occurs commonly throughout the North Temperate Zone, Central America to Colombia, montane temperate Chile and Argentina and northern parts of tropical Asia.

Population and Trends

The species is very widespread and common throughout much of the globe excluding Sub-Saharan Africa and tropical Asia and the Pacific.
