This fungus is studied with the Hyphomycetes, which are mostly Ascomycota. The species was described from Taiwan as presenting solitary or aggregate conidiophores raising from simple or irregularly branched vegetative hyphae with a solitary narrow apical conidium, sometimes presenting proliferations to form 1-2 additional conidia; Conidia 2-septate, ovoid with hyaline linear-triangular top cell and middle cell pale brown.
Due to the few records, and association with as yet poorly studied sites such as the hotspot Atlantic Rain Forest in Brasil, we suggest this species to be categorized as Data Deficient.
The few registers indicate tropical distribution.
The species seems to be restricted to the tropical and subtropical zones, however, due to its microscopic structure it is difficult to establish population size.
Population Trend: Uncertain
This species has been collected in association with protected rain forest leaf litter. There is as yet not enough data to associate it with a specific species of plant.
Due to the association of this species with the ecosystem it occurs, the threat to the species is related to the loss or change in the forest ecosystem.
The species was found in a protected area classified as Biological Reserve.
The species has only been reported from one geographic area in each of the 4 countries where it was found. There is need to sample new locations at least in the same countries where it has been reported to better understand its status.
None.
Except for its organis matter decomposition role in nature, there is no record of use for this species.
