Taxonomic notes

Grammothele subargentea can be confused with G. brasiliensis, but the former has larger pores and longer basidiospores (Hyde et al. 2019).

Geographic range

The species in known in 10 countries. In Brazil, it is known in 14 of the 26 states. The record from Germany is actually from Brazil (Blumenaus, by Moller).


Population and Trends

There are about 90 records of this species in GBIF, about half of them in Brazil. Although not a rare species, it is not very common.

Habitat and Ecology

Neotropical species. In Brazil the species is found in Amazonia and Atlantic Forest.

Threats

The species is well distributed in Brazil, present in pluvial forest domain. However, the Amazon has currently the highest rates of deforestation in the last decades and the Atlantic Forest is already a hotspot.
