Nigrospora hainanensis was isolated for the first time from Musa paradisiaca from Hainan, China, clustered in a well-supported clade and appearing closely related to N. gorlenkoana (Wang et al., 2017).
It is not a common species, presenting about six occurrences in the world. Studies in other locations are needed to understand its distribution. I suggest including it in deficient data.
The species has about 6 occurrences in three countries.
The species appears to be rare, with greater occurrence in China.
Population Trend:
In Brazil, Nigrospora hainanensis occurs as an endophyte of plants from the Atlantic Forest.
In Brazil the species is found in the Atlantic forest.
Half of the species’ occurrences are in an environmental protection area.
Other areas should be studied in order to assess the distribution of this species.
