Calocera arborea is characterised by basidiomata scattered, cylindrical, simple or branched, dendroid, stipitate, pileate, bearing a subglobose to hemispherical head on the main axis and each branch, yellow to brown, soft-cartilaginous to firm-gelatinous, in transverse section through the pileus showing an organization into three zones: a central core of compact parallel hyphae surrounded by a zone of loosely interwoven hyphae enclosed by the hymenium. Internal hyphae branched, septate, thin- or thick-walled, hyaline, without clamp connections and basidiospores cylindrical to navicular, straight or curved, with an apiculum at the base, thin-walled, hyaline, 11-15 x 3.5-4.5 μm, 1-3 septate (Shirouzo et al. 2013).

In Brazil, the species is found in Amazon Forest and Atlantic Forest.
In Brazil, this species is moslty recorded in the Amazon Forest. Amazon has currently the highest rates of deforestation in the last decades and the Atlantic Forest is a hotspot.
Most records are in protected areas.
More areas should be studied in order to assess the distribution of this species. Herbaria revision is also suggested, once this species may be misidentified.
