Assessment Notes

Justification

This species is known to occur within the Pasoh Forest Reserve, Malaysia, and so its population is suspected to be stable. 2 specimens of this species, including its type, are currently known, however the status of these specimens is currently unknown. Further information regarding this species’ wild distribution and habitat preferences is required in order to build an accurate assessment of this species. Therefore, until such information arises from further research, this species is listed as DD.

Taxonomic notes

Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?

Chanterelle species

Geographic range

The type specimen and a subsequent recorded specimen of this species were found in the Pasoh Forest Reserve, Malaysia, along the main trail, between the beginning of the old tree tower and the nature trail in September 2006, collected by D. Stubbe (Eyssartier et al 2009).

Population and Trends

This species appears to exist in the wild under protection of the Pasoh Forest Reserve. Therefore, it is likely that this species’ population is stable. Further research is required in order to determine the current trends of additional wild populations of this species.

Population Trend: Stable

Habitat and Ecology

The two known specimens of this species were found growing on the soil underneath Dipterocarps within the Pasoh Forest Reserve, Malaysia, a lowland rainforest.

Subtropical/Tropical Moist Lowland Forest

Threats

This species is only known to exist within the Pasoh Forest Reserve, and so is unlikely to be threatened .

Conservation Actions

The known wild populations of this species appear to exist entirely under protection. No conservation actions can be recommended at this time without further research into other localities.

Research needed

Further research is required in order to confirm this species’ presence within its last known locality, as well as to assess any further distribution and possible threats affecting it.
