Justification

There is a high degree of uncertainty regarding this species, and some authors consider it not to belong in the genus Cantharellus. Irrespective of its taxonomic position there is a paucity of information on this species, that precludes an accurate assessment of the species’ status. Therefore, it is assessed as Data Deficient.

Eyssartier and Buyck (2000) consider that this species does not belong in the genus Cantharellus, but no alternative has been proposed.
