LichensSiphula dactyliza is known from only a handful of old records from two islands in the Bering Sea. Its overall global population size may be no more than three localities. Military activity on these islands as well as climate change leave the status of these populations in question.
Known from St. Paul and St. Lawrence Islands in the Bering Sea, Alaska
Population Trend: Uncertain

New population assessments need to be undertaken. In addition, molecular work on the classification of the species is required. It is not known to produce apothecia and thus its higher level taxonomic assignment is unclear. However, its treatment by Kantvilas (2002) as a species of Stereocaulon is in error (Spribille, unpublished data).
